A mixed media exhibition exploring melting ice.
I started working on the ‘Meltdown’ series following a visit to Iceland in 2019 where I saw first hand the effect of global warming on glaciers. Some of the drawings are based on my photographs of the glacier face and icebergs at Jokulsarlon. Over the last few years I have been exploring drone photography and images of the earth from space and have used images from Google Earth and other online sources of melting ice as a basis for other pieces. I am very attracted by the ice colours and the jigsaw shapes found in the ice floes. The lockdowns have given me an opportunity to experiment with different media: pencil, pastel, ink, acrylic, felt, photography and digital images.
